About Us

Akaal Skills Development Academy (ASDA) which used to be called Akaal Fashion College was carved out of the Akaal Dékor Company Limited established in 1998 as a textile and garment manufacturing company. The decision to establish the College in the year 2017 was trigged by the desire to provide industry-led vocational training to produce skilled labour to feed Akaal Dekor Limited and the fashion industry in Ghana. In July, 2020, the name of the College was changed to Akaal Skills Development Academy in order to introduce new programmes (plumbing and electrical) to meet the growing demand for skilled labour and create equal opportunities for both genders. It is located at Kwamo-off Kumasi-Accra road, adjacent the Kawmo Executive Lodge.

The Academy was registered with Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) as a training provider in 2018 and  same year secured five (5) year programme accreditation to run garment using Competency-Based Training as instructional mode. An attempt by Akaal Skills Development Academy to expand, introduced two (2) programmes (plumbing and electrical) in 2021. This decision has resulted for the preparation of the strategic plan. The strategic plan has been developed for the period of five (5) years from 2022-2026 to facilitate implementation of Competency-Based Training in plumbing and electrical respectively. The plan intends to provide guidelines and strategies for smooth, support planning, budgeting, and evaluation of CBT programs and enhancing Competency-Based Training delivery in plumbing and electrical.
